Face it, B&N is not telling the customers what they need to know. And they are mixing up the word eReader and causing no end of confusion. |

Next we'll be arguing syntax and what an eReader is.
I think we've kinda been through all this a couple of times, how 'bout we let history sort it out. Maybe we should all send emails to B&N, Sony, Adobe etc. Just to express our opinions. |

Part of the problem is that B&N is using eReader in different meanings. They have it meaning eReader the eBook format and eReader as electronic reader. So tat doesn't help one bit.

See, that's the problem with all of the arguments on all sides of this. Everyone assumes that their perspective and their context is also everyone else's. To the vast majority of B&N's audience, which is customers who have little to no idea about e-books, it's perfectly clear. To the small existing e-book buying market--specifically the US e-book buying market--it can be confusing (but not necessarily), because the market is in flux. Most likely, in six months most of the other players will have upgraded to the new SDK and all the confusion will magically vanish. In the long term, it's good for the market; in the short term, it's a pain--sort of like gall bladder surgery. |
