Of course, especially if the notation is more complex than what I was thinking. Then again, I can't read music sheets nor notation at all.

I told this before, and also could be interesting try em for floating svg images to have something similar to reflow music notation (I never try).

I have used em for SVG images several times, for example in equations in the text. It works fine and scales with the font-size as it should.

Yes, but I'm thinking something more sophisticated: break the staff in single notes or bars, so a musician could read it on ebook reader, tablet or smartphone. If the staff is very large in width, svg or not svg, it could be too little in smartphone.
