To me that is a "why bother?" None of that is likely to be in a place you can't ignore when you are using the device. Or are ignored by the device. And stripping the details is a bit different to actually editing them a second time.

But, I would support an option to not write the custom column details to the books when sent to the devices. The only use for them would be if I had a catastrophe and that was the only source left to recover my books.

When I fix the formatting, I also fix the OPF if needed. That means there's no need for Calibre to insert metadata. If I've updated the metadata, have the metadata read from the ePub and used from there instead of editing twice.
