One of the commenters on the Teleread story I wrote about this issue said that Calibre had added KFX support in 2015, and accused me of spreading "fake news." Can anyone shed any light on this?

Calibre recognises KFX as an ebook format, and has a plugin that can (with the help of an Amazon program) produce a sort of KFX format.
What it can't do is convert KFX to any other format, nor can it cope with the multiple-file KFX format downloaded to Kindle for PC and later Kindles. I've commented at Teleread. What an idiot. Last edited by pdurrant; 01-30-2017 at 12:53 PM. |

Calibre version 2.40.0 (2015-10-02) added support for reading the unencrypted metadata from books on e-ink kindles in KFX format. From the release notes:

Thanks everybody for sharing your solutions. I could install Kindle for PC previous version (1.17) and redownload two books bought recently wich I could not previously add to Calibre, as you said before in this forum. so this worked with this one ebook (azw extension in a folder). But Ii didn´t work with the other. This one book was downloadad to a folder in "My Kindle contente" folder, and consists of seven files and an empty tmp folder. This files are:
CR!86GAQEYRMN59V51WKJW1DEDSAER0.azw.res (6813 kb.) CR!WNRSCQWE5S51NF20J740FH9DQN0T.azw.res (2674 kb) CR!WVRNJZCGP97PF89X871G9K719JMN.azw.md (2265 kb) B01N9HZKD8_EBOK.azw (1495 kb) amzn1.drm-voucher.v1.a3660911-d573-4758-9947-b9e8af68a96e.voucher (2 kb) B01N9HZKD8_EBOK.mbpV2 (1 kb) The last one is named after de folder wich contains it. None of these files can be opened by Calibre. Can anybody guess if there is a way to open it with Calibre so I can convert it to another format? |

KFX files
Hi Guys
I'm getting the issue with KFX files not being readable by Calibre. The pop-up recommends downloading to computer for transfer by USB, but when I do this it still comes down as a KFX file to the computer. I there ANY way around the KFX issue?? Thanks Paul |
